Tourism is not the industry which is formed by the effort of single but it is a outcome of the combined efforts of many other industries in which their services are related to the Tourism sector. What are those other industries that being as part of this tourism Industries? Can you guess those constituents? Those constituents of the tourism Industry are ranging from small scale business operating at the local area to the big multinational companies. For instance, I can tell you about the Foreign exchange, where it enable the Tourist/Travelers/Visitors to change one currency for another, it is one of the constituents of Tourism industry. From this post, let us the see more elements who constitute this tourism Industry.
Constituents of the tourism industry are classified into two: Primary Constituents and Secondary Constituents.
PRIMARY CONSTITUENTS
Primary constituents includes Transport, Hospitality Industry, Intermediaries and Tourism Organization. Let us discuss in brief about it.
Transportation:Tourism is a activity which is incomplete without Transportation industry. It is a duty of a Travel agents or Tour operators to suggest the good mode of transportation to their customers. Transportation industry plays important role in development of Tourism industry. Transportation can be possible in four different ways and they are through Railways, Roadways, Waterways and Airways. Hence, it is taken as one of the Primary constituents of Tourism Industry.
Hospitality Industry: After reaching the destination or during the travel, customer do have to stay somewhere, they need something to eat, they need some place for their refreshments, they need some entertainments to make their trip even more happier. So, the Hospitality Industry (It is a broad category of fields within the service industry that includes restaurant, hotels, cruise line, theme parks, lodging, event planning, etc.,) fulfills all these needs of their guests. This Industry also plays important role in development of this tourism industries.
Intermediaries: Travel agents, Tour operators, Tourist guide & Escorts are considered as intermediaries of this Industry. These professionals are experts, have accumulate knowledge on their field and have contacts with many service providers related to tourism. They are even considered as one of the useful and important source to tourism industry and these professional also acts as intermediary between tourists and tourism suppliers. They plays vital role in constituting this tourism industries.
Tourism Organization: Government tourism department, Tourist information providers, Tourist organizations and other national and international organization that are promoting the tourism are also considered as part of tourism industry.
SECONDARY CONSTITUENTS
There are many services which are formally and informally contributes to the promotion of tourism industry maybe directly or indirectly. Here, For instance I can tell you about the role of Bank (One of the secondary constituents of tourism industry) in tourism industry. We all might know that banks don't have any connection with Tourism industry but, they indirectly constitute the tourism Industry. How?
They provide service to tourist through 'Traveler's Cheque' and 'Credit Cards'(where these both services are widely used by tourist to satisfy their financial need while they are on travel or while they perform their tourism activity). Likewise, Local Transports, Labors, Local Taxi, Insurance company, Foreign exchange, etc., are considered as the Secondary constituents which helps in development of Tourism Industry.
