CLARKE QUAY
Clarke
Quay served as a dock for the loading and unloading of cargo for commercial
houses and warehouses. It was named after Sir Andrew Clarke, governor of the
Straits Settlements from 1873 to 1875. Because of the earlier cargo services at
this place, the river got polluted hence the government then cleaned up the
Singapore River from 1977 to 1987. This is spot is one of the key tourist
attractions in Singapore. Clarke Quay is
filled with different restaurants with different cuisines, pubs and clubs
alongside the Singapore River, so the atmosphere here is usually crowded with
loud music to light jazz. I can simply
describe this place as every tourist to there says, "Clarke Quay comes
alive at sunset". This is the excellent place for the people who loves the
Nightlife.
